! The Facilities Intern supports the day-to-day operations of the organization by helping care for and maintain the physical facility. This role offers hands‑on experience assisting with building upkeep, grounds maintenance, shipping and receiving, and basic administrative tasks. The Facilities Intern helps ensure the workplace remains safe, clean, and welcoming for employees, visitors, and guests, while gaining practical experience, learning new skills, and contributing to a positive work environment.
- Perform daily facility tasks such as unlocking and locking doors, raising and lowering the flag, and turning lights on and off.
- Maintain exterior grounds by picking up trash, emptying outdoor trash containers, mowing, and removing snow as needed.
- Monitor guests, visitors, and unfamiliar individuals on the property and assist with general building security.
- Assist with internal building needs, including coordinating with vendors for catered meetings, stocking beverages, arranging and moving furniture, and supporting meeting or event setup.
- Help maintain clean, organized office and common areas, including emptying indoor trash containers.
- Support daily mail operations, shipping, and receiving activities for the facility.
Skills and Abilities
- Communicates effectively in person and in small group settings with employees, visitors, vendors, and the general public.
- Maintains confidentiality and exercises discretion when handling business or facility-related information.
- Demonstrates basic math skills, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing (including currency and measurements).
- Follows written, verbal, and diagrammed instructions using sound judgment and common sense.
- Solves routine problems involving multiple known variables.
- Manages time effectively and plans the sequence of assigned work; may occasionally assist others with task coordination.
- Makes routine decisions that may moderately impact operations or others.
- Performs moderately repetitive tasks with attention to detail.
- Operates basic office and non‑complex equipment such as calculators, copy machines, and fax machines.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Basic: Microsoft Office
