The Administrative Assistant for Economic Development provides essential support by managing administrative functions, coordinating communications, and assisting with project workflows related to development initiatives. This role is critical to the efficient operation of redevelopment efforts and supports staff in advancing strategic economic development goals, facilitating stakeholder coordination, and promoting investment, revitalization, and long-term economic growth.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Administrative Support:
  • Manage and maintain departmental schedules, calendars, and appointments related to economic development and redevelopment activities.
  • Prepare, proofread, and distribute correspondence, reports, presentations, agreements, and other development-related documents.
  • Organize and maintain electronic and physical filing systems for redevelopment records, contracts, incentive agreements, and related documentation.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned to support economic development and redevelopment objectives.
Communications and Coordination:
  • Coordinate and support meetings, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, and distributing follow-up and action items.
  • Monitor project timelines and provide administrative support to ensure redevelopment and development milestones are met.
  • Collaborate with team members to track, document, and report on project progress.
Data Management and Research
  • Maintain and update databases related to businesses, developers, redevelopment projects, incentives, and economic development resources.
  • Conduct research to support grant applications, incentive programs, redevelopment planning, and economic development policy recommendations.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field preferred.

Experience:

2+ years of administrative or office management experience, preferably in community development, economic development, or a related field.

Skills:
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple economic development and redevelopment projects, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear correspondence, reports, meeting materials, and redevelopment documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and the ability to efficiently manage data, tracking spreadsheets, and development-related records.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal departments, developers, business owners, elected officials, and external partners.
  • High attention to detail with a proactive, solution-oriented approach to supporting redevelopment initiatives, tracking project progress, and resolving administrative issues.
Physical Demands:

Applicants will spend time both inside and outside the office environment. They may be required to sit or stand for prolonged periods and may also need to walk, climb, and navigate uneven terrain, as well as ascend and descend steps and embankments.

Other Demands:

All applicants will undergo a background screening and may be required to attend community events hosted by the City.
