Looking for a hands‑on summer job where no two days are the same? Join the Allen County Public Library as a Youth Services Summer Assistant and play a key role in making our system-wide Summer Learning Program a success.
This position starts in late April and supports Youth Services staff behind the scenes as we prepare for our busiest and most exciting season of the year. From organizing supplies to keeping programs running smoothly across all branches, you’ll be right at the heart of the action - including running errands like shopping for supplies, picking up lunches, and helping support Team Read alongside teen employees.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Assist Youth Services staff with preparation for the Summer Learning Program
- Help with administrative tasks, material prep, sorting, and organizing supplies
- Prepare and distribute program supplies and prizes to library branches
- Lift and move boxes and materials as needed
- Drive to run errands as needed
- Support Youth Services staff system‑wide once the program launches in June
- Jump in wherever help is needed to keep things running smoothly through July
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- A positive, can‑do attitude and willingness to help wherever needed
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced and changing environment
- Comfortable interacting with teens
- Able to learn quickly and adapt on the fly
- A genuine passion for supporting youth and serving the community
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are essential (you will be reimbursed for mileage)
