About the position
About the position: This position will be assigned to the Hurlburt Field Aquatics Center and is not guaranteed a set amount of hours, but can be scheduled 0 - 40 hours per week. As a federal employee you will have access to all Hurlburt Field FSS facilities. Growth and other benefit opportunities also available.
DutiesContinuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area. Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance if and when needed. Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions, and recommends closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail.
When working at pools, may operate water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards. Ensures that diving boards are inspected frequently for cracks or loose matting, and that necessary repairs are made. May perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to include: cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, pool decks, beach areas, sunbathing areas, etc.

- This position requires satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks in accordance with Air Force and DoD policy, and a Childcare Tier 1 background investigation with favorable results.
- This position has a physical lifting requirement which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical.
- This position requires the incumbent to possess an approved and current nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills, as well as basic first aid training, and CPR (both child and adult) training
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
