An exceptional opportunity is available for an experienced Trauma Program Director to join a respected acute care hospital located in the Florida Panhandle. This leadership position offers the chance to oversee a comprehensive trauma program within a busy Level II Trauma Center
, guiding operations, performance improvement, and multidisciplinary coordination to ensure the highest quality of care for trauma patients.
The Trauma Program Director is responsible for the overall administration, organization, and performance of the hospitals trauma program. This leader will oversee all aspects of trauma operations, including compliance, verification, research, data management, and quality improvement. Working closely with the Chief Operating Officer, trauma surgeons, nursing leadership, and other departments, the Director will drive excellence in patient outcomes and operational efficiency across the continuum of care.
This position is not a traditional nursing unit management role it is an operational and strategic leadership role for the trauma program, requiring an individual with advanced expertise in trauma systems, clinical research, and program development.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee daily operations and strategic direction of the hospitals trauma program.
- Develop, implement, and monitor systems to improve financial performance, efficiency, and resource utilization.
- Coordinate care delivery and communication across pre-hospital, inpatient, and post-discharge trauma services.
- Manage trauma program verification and re-verification processes, ensuring full compliance with state and national standards.
- Oversee the trauma registry and ensure data integrity for use in performance improvement, trend analysis, and research.
- Conduct audits, develop quality filters, and lead case reviews to identify trends, strengthen outcomes, and drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with hospital and regional partners to enhance trauma system integration and optimize patient flow.
- Partner with trauma surgeons, emergency department staff, and nursing leadership to ensure adherence to best practices and trauma care protocols.
- Provide mentorship, direction, and oversight for a dedicated trauma team.
- Promote a culture of safety, education, and evidence-based practice throughout the trauma program.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)
- Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN or higher strongly preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire
- Minimum of 5 years of recent acute care trauma leadership experience (within the past year)
