General Labor
Purpose: To assist with the setup, operation, and breakdown of sets, props, and technical equipment for events and productions at Lauderhill Performing Arts Center (LPAC) under the general supervision of the General Manager or designee. Employees in this classification perform skilled functions on an on‑call/temporary basis and are responsible for ensuring safe, smooth, and successful events and productions.
Responsibilities- Assists with the setup and breakdown of scenery, props, and stage elements before, during, and after performances.
- Assists in all areas of the LPAC including sound, lighting, carpentry, wardrobe, rigging and overall stage safety.
- Coordinates, moves, and positions set pieces and furniture according to scene change cues.
- Ensures props are correctly placed and available for performers.
- Executes scene transitions quickly and efficiently while maintaining safety.
- Works as part of a team to follow cue calls from managing staff.
- Maintains clear pathways and an organized backstage area; ensures safety protocols.
- Provides professional, customer‑focused, welcoming service.
- Maintains a physical presence at the work location; is punctual and works a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, and events.
- Operates or assists with special effects, stage machinery, or automation if required.
- Assists with rigging, fly system operations, or other technical elements as assigned.
- Sweeps, mops, and removes trash from the stage, as directed.
- Ensures that all aspects of production adhere to health and safety regulations.
- Assists with and assigns tasks to ensure efficient workflow during load‑ins, tech rehearsals, performances, and strikes; assists with special event set‑up and break down in the lobby, as directed.
- Assists with special projects, including painting, light bulb replacement, stripping/re‑hanging, repairing scenery/rigging, etc.
- Works in the basket of a one‑person Genie lift.
- Performs related work as required.
- High School diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
- Valid State of Florida Driver’s License.
- Associate’s degree in Theatre Design/Technology, Fine Arts, or closely related field.

Physical & Skill Requirements- Ability to exert heavy physical effort in very heavy work, potentially lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling objects and materials in excess of 50 pounds.
- Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and operating under varying environmental conditions.
- Motor coordination, sensory perception, color discrimination, and spatial aptitude.
- Effective verbal and written communication with City employees, stakeholders, and the public.
- Functional and situational reasoning, data conception, and mathematical aptitude.
- Environmental factors: varied exposure to adverse conditions such as cold, heat, rain, sunlight, humidity, noise, and fumes.
- Driving requirements: ability to drive and operate a personal or City vehicle intermittently throughout the work day or work week.
