Under general supervision, operates CT equipment, positions patients to produce diagnostic radiographs in a safe manner and performs related duties.
Essential Functions- Operates CT equipment to make radiographs and scans of designated body portions, adjusting equipment and patient positions, and instructing patients.
- Performs reconstruction and special processing (CT Angio), evaluates completed radiographs/scans for positioning, technique, and adequacy.
- Observes patients, provides first aid, and communicates with physicians when needed.
- Ensures all exams are entered properly, edited as required, and verified for the radiologist.
- Records and maintains exam information in CT log.
- Records radiation dose into Meditech and reports outliers as required.
- Performs QC functions as required.
- Documents all medications used in the EMAR.
- Receives verbal orders for examinations from a responsible practitioner in accordance with state licensing.
- Demonstrates customer principles and behaviors appropriately.
- Reviews current developments in diagnostic CT techniques, complete educational requirements annually.
- Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross‑contamination; maintains orderliness and cleanliness.
- Reviews patient chart for pertinent clinical history and documents for the radiologist.
- Adheres to prescribed standards of radiation safety and participates in quality improvement and safety programs.
- Records hours worked in accordance with hospital policy.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support, obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Registered Radiographer (ARRT) required; CT certification required within 12 months of hire.
- State of Florida Registered Radiologic Technologist.
- Associate Degree in Radiological Technology.
