The Electronics Technician II applies comprehensive knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers’ manuals, or similar documents. This technician inspects, analyzes, troubleshoots, and maintains aircraft electrical and environmental (E&E) systems, subsystems, components, and associated test equipment. They advise on problems operating and maintaining aircraft E&E systems and.croped electronic components, subsystems, and test equipment. The technician receives technical guidance from a supervisor or higher‑level technician, is reviewed for compliance with technical guidance and accepted practices, and may also provide guidance to lower‑level technicians.
They maintain repairs, troubleshoot, modify, and install various types of electronic equipment and related devices such as electronic transmitting and receiving equipment (e.g., radar, radio, television, telecommunication, sonar, and navigational aids), personal and main‑frame computers and terminals. The successful candidate applies technical knowledge of electronics principles to determine equipment malfunctions, restores equipment operation, evaluates performance and reliability of prototype or production modes, and recommends changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
They read and interpret USAF technical orders, service bulletins, engineering data, and other specifications to determine einger feasibility and best method for repairing or replacing malfunctioning systems.
- Minimum of 6 years of C‑130 Electrical and Environmental Systems (E&E, 2A6X6) experience.
- Operational knowledge and ability toଥ inspect, troubleshoot and repair aircraft fire and overheat detection system.
- Operational knowledge and ability to inspect, troubleshoot and repair aircraft bleed air systems.
- Operational knowledge and ability to inspect, troubleshoot and repair aircraft air conditioning, environmental, and cabin pressurization systems.
- Operational knowledge and ability to inspect, troubleshoot and repair aircraft anti‑skid braking system.
- Operational knowledge and ability to operate the Data Transfer and Diagnostic System (DTADS).
- Proficient with using USAF Technical Orders and documenting AFTO 781 Forms.
- Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance.
- Familiar with the Isochronal / Letter Check inspection process.
- Previously performed as a 7‑Level or Equivalent, Electrical and Environmental Systems Technician with Three (3) years of C‑130J flight‑line aircraft experience.
- Experience with inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing aircraft avionics and electrical systems (GAC, Com/Nav, EW, Sensors).
- Experience in fabricating, installing, routing, terminating, soldering, and repairing electrical wiring harnesses or a variety of electrical components, and equipment associated with aircraft systems functionality.
- Knowledge of HAZMAT/HAZWASTE, corrosion control, inspection/repair, maintenance inspection, aircraft launch and recovery, aircraft servicing, towing, and jacking/shoring of aircraft.
