JOB SUMMARY
Blue Bird Body Company is looking for a creative and driven Summer Intern for our Design Engineering program. This role is tailored for students pursuing a degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field, and offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in product design and development. The Intern, Design Engineer will design projects, contributing to the innovation and improvement of our products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Assist in the design and development of new products and components using CAD software (e.g., 3DX/Catia, Autocad, Draftsight)
* Support the engineering team in creating detailed drawings, models, and prototypes
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability
* Conduct research and analysis to inform design decisions and optimize product performance
* Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback
* Assist in testing and validation of prototypes, documenting results and making necessary design adjustments
* Maintain organized project documentation and design records
* Support the implementation of design changes and updates
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department
* Perform other related duties as assigned

* Enthusiasm for learning and applying new engineering concepts and techniques
BASIC EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
* Currently enrolled in a degree program in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field
* Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD, 3DX/Catia, Draftsight) is required
* At least 18 years of age prior to the start of the internship assignment
