Job SummaryFort Valley State University seeks full‑time, 10‑month, tenure‑track faculty for its Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program. The mission of the nursing program is to prepare diverse nursing scholars to safely deliver quality healthcare that meets the holistic needs of clients, working with rural communities to improve access to care and reduce health disparities. The position starts on August 1, 2026.
EssentialDuties / Responsibilities
- Prepare objectives, lesson plans, lectures, syllabi, and other course materials for assigned nursing courses.
- Supervise clinical activities for students in healthcare facilities and campus labs.
- Monitor and update course material and announcements in the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Participate in accreditation processes by developing standards, mapping course outcomes to End of Program Student Learning Outcomes (EPSLO), and attending related events.
- Grade student assignments and enter grades into LMS.
- Advise and remediate assigned nursing students.
- Evaluate program curriculum and student outcomes.
- Serve on departmental, college, and university committees and engage in community service and outreach.
- Maintain a minimum of ten face‑to‑face office hours per week.
- Demonstrate commitment to expanding the program, student engagement, retention, scholarship, and the nursing profession.
- Abide by faculty onboarding policies of clinical partners, including drug screens, background checks, proof of immunizations, and current BLS certification.
- Act as an exemplary role model, exhibiting professional values and standards.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Master of Science in Nursing; a doctoral degree in nursing is preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years in academia with an exceptional teaching record in nursing programs.
- Unencumbered Registered Professional Nursing License in the state of Georgia.
- At least three (3) years of professional nursing practice experience.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a team.
- Flexibility for after‑hours coverage, including evenings and weekends.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, D2L, and Banner.
- Successful completion of a background check.
- Ability to travel to clinical sites.
- Current valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Three years of classroom experience in nursing.
- Experience with the ACEN accreditation process.
- Familiarity with clinical onboarding systems such as ACEMAPP and Verified Credentials.
- Recent nursing experience in Obstetrics, Mental Health, Pediatrics, Leadership, or Medical–Surgical Nursing.
- Sitting and standing for extended periods of time.
- Bending, lifting, and carrying objects weighing 25–50 lbs (may be required).
- Work hours may include evenings and weekends.
