Fort Valley State University, the only 1890 land-grant university in Georgia, is a comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2,800 students including graduate students. Job SummaryWe are seeking a dynamic, student-centered Admissions Counselor/Recruiter who loves connecting with people, telling our story, and helping future Wildcats find their place s role is ideal for someone who enjoys traveling, presenting, building relationships, and guiding students through the admissions process. You will represent FVSU across Georgia and the Southeast, sharing our mission with students, families, and high school partners.

- Represent FVSU at in-person and virtual recruitment events across Georgia, Florida, and other key territories while sharing the Wildcat story, connecting with future students, and serving as the university's frontline ambassador.
- Build meaningful relationships with students, parents, school counselors, teachers, and community partners through calls, emails, texts, presentations, and one-on-one conversations while guiding students as they explore their next life experience.
- Lead targeted outreach campaigns through email, phone, and text to follow up with prospective students, answer questions, and keep them engaged throughout the admissions journey.
- Manage your recruitment territory with strategy and pride by creating and executing a territory plan in collaboration with the Executive Director of Admissions and Recruitment to meet enrollment goals.
- Analyze recruitment efforts to determine effectiveness, address areas for improvement, and develop strategies that better engage and support future Wildcats.
- Minimum of an associate's degree required.
- Minimum of one year in admissions, recruitment, advising, or documented leadership roles on a college campus or similar environment.
- Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to connect authentically with diverse student populations.
- Organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, travel-heavy environment.
- Demonstrated ability to independently initiate projects, follow through, and drive tasks to completion. Willingness to travel up to 70 percent during peak recruiting season (September through April), including overnight travel.
- Ability to report to the Fort Valley State University campus at least two days each month.
- Working knowledge of CRM systems preferred.
- Ability to collect, organize, and interpret student prospect data with accuracy and attention to detail. Strong customer service orientation with excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize time effectively.
The work consists of varied duties in directing the university's admissions functions. The variety of tasks to be managed contributes to the complexity of the position. The purpose of this position is to market the university to prospective students living in Georgia and bordering areas. Success in this position contributes significantly to achieving university enrollment goals.
Physical Requirements- The work is typically performed in an office.
- The work typically requires driving for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and assemble/disassemble display materials.
- September through May is the peak recruiting period; during this period, extensive travel and school visits will be required.
- May be required to work beyond regular work hours (evenings and weekends) as defined by the needs of the department.
