Registered Midwife

This position is a one year term working as a Registered Midwife in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories.

Fort Smith is a cozy community located in the southern Northwest Territories (NWT). Here you get to watch the Pelican’s at the Slave River Rapids or access Canada’s biggest national park, Wood Buffalo National Park and see the Salt Plains, a World Heritage Site. As the Registered Midwife, you will work as an autonomous primary care practitioner with hospital privileges who provides residents with specialized prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum and neonatal health care including health assessment, diagnosis, intervention and follow up care in accordance with the NWT Midwifery Profession Act and midwifery regulatory framework.

You will provide culturally safe, relationship-based midwifery services that contribute to the achievement of optimal maternal / child health outcomes in the NWT.
