Position: SECURITY SPECIALIST with Security Clearance
Duties DUTY 1:
Implements and administers the Information Security Program for the installation. Implements DOD, USAF, and MAJCOM policies and develops local procedures for the classification and protection of classified national defense and other sensitive information originated or controlled by installation activities. DUTY 2:
Administers the Industrial Security Program. Reviews solicitation and contract documents to ensure they include the appropriate security clauses and language. DUTY 3:
Implements and administers the Personnel Security Program for the installation. Establishes local procedures for processing requests for security clearances for military and civilian personnel. Initiates and reviews all requests for personnel security investigations consistent with directives. DUTY 4:
Assists base unit and staff agency security managers in implementing security education and motivation programs. Advises security managers of security training requirements, changes in security procedures, publication of security directives, and enhancements designed to increase security awareness. * Position may be subject to random drug testing
* Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends and/or holidays
* Shift work and emergency overtime may be required
* Employee must maintain current certifications
* Disclosure of Political Appointments
* Advance in hire may be authorized if there is demonstrable proof provided on your resume
* Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
* Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
* The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments
* The employee must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET/SCI (Sensitive Compartmented Information) security clearance
* This is a Mission Essential (ME) position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF) which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions
* This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. EXPERIENCE:

Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes
1) Performing moderately difficult and complex assignments consisting of well-precedented tasks in the application of occupational principles, methods, and techniques.
2) Using judgment in interpreting and adapting guidelines, such as agency policies, regulations, precedents, and work directions for application to specific cases or problems.
3) Assists in formulating program goals, plans, policy implementation guidelines, procedures, and work plans dealing with the development and operation of wing-wide information security programs and activities.
4) Using principles, concepts, and theories of Air Force Information Protection Program, and the standard practices, methods, and techniques of the occupation to perform difficult, but well-precedented information security assignments. OR
