Overview

Stryten Energy in the Fort Smith, AR area operates a growing battery manufacturing factory. Through the Industrial Power division, we produce batteries, services and solutions for the Motive and Network Power industries. We are recruiting a Maintenance Technician to join our plant. The position is responsible for mechanical and electrical maintenance, repairs, and installation of new equipment.

Pay rate: $30.94 starting, increases to $31.24 after 90‑day probation with great benefits.
Shifts: 2nd Shift and 3rd Shift.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctioning equipment including power sources (480 V 3‑phase equipment and DC‑powered equipment)
  • Suggest and implement improvements to existing equipment
  • Carry out and suggest preventive maintenance as assigned
  • Perform repairs on the facility, including electrical, light construction and mechanical work
  • After training in Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), follow the LOTO procedure in all appropriate situations
  • Be trained and apply safety and environmental procedures to the work situation
  • Wear all protective equipment as required by job, environment, and company policies
  • Aid in the installation of new equipment and removal of old equipment
  • Repair/operate high‑pressure boilers and steam systems
  • Attend eight‑hour shifts on 1st, 2nd or 3rd shifts Monday through Friday with mandatory overtime frequently
  • Help complete daily and weekly 5S responsibilities for area and department
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a high‑pressure boiler license within one year of starting the position
  • Preferences given to:
    • Manufacturing experience
    • Pneumatics experience
    • Mechanical experience
    • Hydraulics experience
    • Electrical experience
    • Construction experience
    • Experience with battery manufacturing
    • Strong knowledge of DC‑powered equipment
Language and Communication Skills
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common technical instructions
  • Effectively communicate with co‑workers, customers and management
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Good written and verbal communication skills
Reasoning Ability
  • Interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Pass a basic maintenance test administered by the Company
  • Define problems and draw valid conclusions to determine work required
  • Understanding of basic electricity/electronics to troubleshoot problems
Certificates and Licenses
  • May require a valid Operator License for powered industrial truck (forklift, Drexel, or pallet jack)

Physical Demands
  • Stand, use hands to grasp, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear; look from side to side; walk, manipulate, control or set; bend neck, waist; operate foot controls in repetitive motion; hear verbal instructions and equipment traffic around them.
  • Occasionally lift up to 40 lb. daily; regularly lift, push or pull 41–150 lb. with equipment assistance on a daily to weekly basis.
  • Use brazing torch, hand tools, air tools, touch screen computer.
  • Use safety glasses, gloves, uniforms, steel‑toed boots, welding or cutting goggles all times; use respirator as necessary.
  • Vision: 20/40 or better, depth perception, full field view.
Work Environment
  • Regular exposure to molten lead, dust and heavy metals, lead and cadmium.
  • Occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals (acid) and risk of electrical shock.
  • Regular exposure to extreme heat and humidity during summer months in a plant not air‑conditioned.
  • Occasional exposure to odors, moving machinery, forklifts, pallet jacks.
  • Regular exposure to lead dust, epoxy, gases (natural gas, oxygen), solvents (isopropyl alcohol), occasional paint.
  • Noise level varies from minimal to loud; hearing protection offered but not required.
