R&D Senior Electrical Engineer – ABB
Reports to the Director of Research & Development.
Responsibilities- Contribute significantly to technology development, product development and support of existing products. Perform detailed cost‑benefit analysis for design optimization.
- Create electrical designs for industrial motors per internal specifications and industry standards from fractional through integral horsepower ranges. Emphasize AC induction motor design methodology, modeling techniques, test standards, and analysis of motor test data.
- Leverage expertise in motor design, contribute innovative ideas to R&D assignments. Ensure protection of newly created intellectual property. Act as project leader or senior project member providing experience in execution and use of supporting engineering tools, processes, and methods.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain on product specification, application assistance, regulatory or certification requirements and processes while sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues to ensure timely and high‑quality results.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 12 years of experience with Electric Motors and minimum 5 years in AC Induction Motors.
- Knowledge of electric motor technologies, advanced design methodologies (FEA), manufacturing processes, and customer support experience.
- Working knowledge of UL, CSA, CE, IEEE, IEC, NEMA regulatory compliance.
- Preferred experience:
Lean Six Sigma or PMP certifications, Master’s Degree in Engineering, SAP, AutoCAD, Solid Works. - Must already have work authorization to work for ABB in the US.
