Intern, Engineering - Yield

Job Description

The Intern, Yield Engineering participates in an internship within the Pricing, Strategy, or Costing departments within Arc Best Yield, learning to:
1) analyze supply chain solution opportunities to meet customer logistics needs while using and interpreting all relevant cost, market, and value‑added information;
2) provide internal management consulting for Arc Best leaders that deepens understanding of profitability drivers; or,
3) provide analytical support for new and existing business opportunities while developing innovative tools and processes to advance strategic yield initiatives.

• Complete operational modeling, performance measurement, and market research.
• Other duties and projects, as assigned.
• Provide timely, accurate and actionable data and analysis to decision makers at all levels.
• Communicate on a daily basis with Arc Best's nationwide sales teams regarding the interpretation, negotiation, and administration of pricing arrangements.
• Understand various Arc Best business units/services and their respective pricing structure and objectives.
• Identify and evaluate profit and yield improvement opportunities.
• Determine cost projections and/or potential efficiency improvements on both new and existing business opportunities.
• Maintain a positive attitude while driving desired results.
• Conduct business and financial analysis.
• Work in a team setting to accomplish corporate, departmental, and individual goals.

• Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in a technical field, such as Industrial Engineering or Mathematics, required.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and a programming language such as VBA, R, Python, or SQL.

• Part‑time internship positions starting in May through the summer, averaging 40 hours per week. Typical hours will fall between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. during the summer months.
• For internships that continue year‑round, hours will average fewer than 30 hours per week between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with occasional irregular hours depending on workload.

• This is an hourly position paid biweekly.
