Accounts Payable Clerk

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team in Fort Smith, Arkansas. This role is a long-term contract position and focuses on maintaining efficient and accurate accounts payable processes. The ideal candidate will play a key part in supporting financial operations by ensuring timely and precise invoice processing, payment handling, and documentation maintenance.

Responsibilities:

- Process vendor invoices with accuracy, ensuring proper coding and verification against purchase orders and receipts.

- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve discrepancies in invoice amounts, quantities, freight charges, or tax issues.

- Maintain up-to-date vendor records, including W-9 forms and payment details.

- Review and reconcile outstanding items, unapplied credits, and discrepancies identified on vendor statements.

- Assist in managing accounts payable aging reports and address irregular or duplicate balances.

- Prepare and distribute customer invoices in compliance with contracts, pricing agreements, and shipment documentation.

- Post customer payments, including checks, wires, and credit cards, while investigating unapplied or misapplied funds.

- Keep accurate documentation of customer accounts, including invoices, payments, and related correspondence.

- Support account reconciliations and address variances or discrepancies.

- Assist with processing credit memos, ensuring all necessary approvals and documentation are in place. Requirements

- 0-2 years of experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general accounting.

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all tasks.

- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with enterprise resource planning systems.

- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to meet routine deadlines.

- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

- High level of initiative and dependability, with a willingness to learn and grow within the accounting field.
