Purpose:
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual who is passionate about educating the youth in our community. They should be competent at organizing and delivering education curriculums to groups of students in an effective way. They also need to carefully supervise and assess student performance.
- Current Kansas State Teaching License
- Assign, grade, and provide feedback on assignments, class work, homework, and tests.
- Attend in-service trainings and meetings.
- Facilitate active learning by assigning and preparing classroom curriculum.
- Implement strategies to encourage, instruct, and monitor to optimize student learning.
- Maintain comprehensive and precise record of student progress and required documentation.
- Positively correct in conducive behavior in accordance with district procedures and rules.
- Maintain a well-kept classroom that encourages children to create, explore and make decisions with confidence.
- Keep students safe physically, emotionally, and mentally while they attend school.
- Communicate with parents and other staff members regularly, including writing progress reports and holding parent/teacher conferences when necessary/scheduled.
- Abide by the State and District rules and regulations.

Fort Scott has two elementary schools, Winfield Scott - grades K-2 and Eugene Ware - grades 3-5. Each school’s academic program emphasizes reading, language arts, math, social studies, and science. The children participate in physical education, vocal music, art, library, and computer labs.

Fort Scott Middle School serves all district students in grades six, seven, and eight. A core curriculum of reading, language arts, social studies, math, and science is emphasized through a teaming approach.
Fort Scott High School is for students in grades nine through twelve. The curriculum features a college or career-ready curriculum in a student-centered focused environment. Students may choose from a variety of electives and enjoy a wide range of extracurricular activities and clubs.
