The Maintenance of Traffic laborer performs temporary traffic control operations to maintain safe and efficient traffic flow on roadway construction sites within designated work zones. Responsibilities include highway maintenance tasks, adhering to all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, company policies, and safety guidelines.
Essential Job Functions: Includes, but is not limited to, setting up and maintaining traffic control devices, signs, and lights; coordinating activities with clients and officials; loading/unloading equipment; operating company vehicles if licensed; and completing required reports. Additional duties may be assigned as needed by management.
- Set up and maintain traffic control devices, signs, and lights
- Manage work-zone activities including detours and lane closures
- Coordinate with on-site representatives and officials
- Load and unload equipment
- Deliver and pick up equipment
- Ensure compliance with MOT guidelines
- Complete daily paperwork
- If licensed, operate company vehicles and maintain driving records
Desired Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years experience in Maintenance of Traffic or related fields (e.g., highway construction)
- High School Diploma or GED; clear communication skills
- Advanced MOT certification preferred

Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and knowledge of local driving laws if licensed to drive
- Pass drug screening and background checks
- Physical ability to perform demanding tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds, working at heights, and operating machinery
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and on high-speed traffic sites
