Wastewater Treatment, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Overview
Lee County Utilities is looking for a dependable and motivated Wastewater Treatment Plant Trainee. In this role, you will help clean used water from homes and businesses so it can be safely returned to the environment. You will learn how a wastewater treatment plant works and how to operate equipment safely and correctly. This is a hands-on job and a great opportunity to learn a skilled trade with paid training and long-term career growth.
WhatYou Will Do
- Learn to operate pumps, tanks, and other treatment equipment
- Help collect and test water samples for germs, chemicals, and solids
- Watch plant systems and make adjustments to keep them working properly
- Record daily work and test results in logs and reports
- Clean and maintain tools, machines, and buildings
- Follow safety rules when working with water, chemicals, and equipment
- Work as part of a team and communicate clearly
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- High school diploma or GED, or related work experience
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions
- Ability to work safely around water, chemicals, and machinery
- 6 months or more experience in wastewater, water treatment, or similar work
After you are hired, you will be required to complete:
- Sacramento Wastewater Course – Volume One (within 6 months)
- Sacramento Wastewater Course – Volume Two (within 12 months)
- State Wastewater Operator Exam (within 18 months)
- “C” Wastewater Operator License (within 2 years)
- Full-time position (40 hours per week)
- Rotating shifts required
- Includes nights, weekends, and holidays
- Facility operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
This is a hands-on job where every day is different. You will play an important role in protecting public health and the environment. You’ll gain valuable skills in wastewater treatment, safety procedures, and equipment operation while building a stable career in public service.
