Job SummaryAs an Excavator/Dozer Operator
, you’ll play a key role in site development and earthmoving operations. You’ll operate both excavators and bulldozers to prepare construction sites, move materials, and ensure surfaces are graded to exact specifications. This is a physically demanding, hands‑on position that requires strong equipment skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety. Your expertise will directly contribute to the successful and timely completion of our construction projects.
- Safely and efficiently operate excavators and bulldozers for site preparation, trenching, back filling, grading, and earthmoving tasks.
- Follow technical plans and grade stakes to achieve precise cuts, slopes, and levels.
- Clear and grade land, excavate foundations, dig trenches, and assist with utility installations.
- Push, spread, and level dirt and gravel with dozers to create a smooth surface according to design specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and grade stakes to ensure excavation and grading work is performed accurately.
- Use GPS or laser‑guided systems as needed to assist with fine grading.
- Inspect machines daily and perform routine maintenance to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Report equipment issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Work closely with other equipment operators, laborers, and supervisors to coordinate job site activities and maintain efficient workflow.
- Follow all company safety procedures, OSHA regulations, and environmental guidelines.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and participate in safety meetings and job hazard assessments.
- Keep work zones safe, organized, and free from hazards. Properly secure and store equipment when not in use.
- Diagnose and resolve minor equipment malfunctions in the field; elevate more serious mechanical issues to maintenance teams.
- Complete daily equipment logs, job reports, and communicate with supervisors about site progress and any challenges encountered.
- Assist with other construction or labor‑related tasks as needed to support team and project goals.
- Minimum 3 years of experience operating heavy equipment, including dozers (GPS a Plus) and other equipment.
- High school diploma or equivalent
. - Ability to pass a Pre‑Employment Drug Screening
. - Strong communication skills to work effectively with your team and supervisors.
- Reliable transportation to commute to various job sites.
- Ability to perform physical labor and remain active throughout the workday.
- Strong time management skills to stay organized and meet deadlines.
