PositionSummary
The Kitchen Systems/Fire Extinguisher Technician at Marmic Fire and Safety is responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of kitchen fire suppression systems and fire extinguishers. You will work on-site to support both commercial and residential kitchens, handling tasks from system setup to routine maintenance while upholding high safety standards.
Core Responsibilities- Install new kitchen fire suppression systems and fire extinguishers according to manufacturer specifications, local safety regulations, and NFPA codes.
- Conduct thorough inspections of fire extinguishers and pre-engineered restaurant fire suppression systems per NFPA 10, NFPA 17-17A, UL 300, and manufacturer specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance and repair tasks to keep all equipment operational and compliant.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions, addressing deficiencies and non-conformance issues.
- Prepare accurate inspection reports, obtain customer signatures, and maintain detailed records daily.
- Communicate effectively with clients to schedule service appointments, provide updates, and address concerns, delivering excellent customer service and offering recommendations for maintenance, upgrades, and compliance.
- Adhere to NFPA codes, manufacturer specifications, local fire codes, and company safety protocols to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Participate in ongoing training to stay current with industry standards, technologies, and best practices in kitchen fire suppression systems and fire extinguisher maintenance.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a professional attitude.
- Basic understanding of fire suppression systems and fire extinguishers (entry-level candidates allowed).
- Ability to use hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and basic repair tools.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Pass pre-employment background checks and drug screenings, with ongoing compliance throughout employment.
- Physical labor capability, including lifting and moving equipment over 50 lbs and working in climbing ladders, confined spaces, and challenging positions.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and be on-call as needed.
- Certification or coursework in fire suppression systems or fire protection.
- Previous experience working with kitchen fire suppression systems and fire extinguishers.
- Familiarity with NFPA codes, including NFPA 10, NFPA 17-17A, UL 300, and local fire codes.
- Experience with brands such as ANSUL, Pyro Chem, Range Guard, Kidde, and Piranha.
- Ability to communicate effectively in multiple languages.
