Minimum to Midpoint Pay Rate: $42.04 - $52.95 / hour
Summary: Responsible for designing and executing a strategic, metrics-driven fundraising program to advance the mission, programs, and priorities of the Heart Institute. This position manages a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, focusing on measurable outcomes in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding philanthropic investments at the major and principal gift level. The Director of Development works closely with physician leadership, administrators, grateful patients, and community partners to translate Heart Institute priorities into compelling opportunities for philanthropic support, tracking progress against established goals and metrics to ensure maximum impact.
Responsibilities- Design and execute a strategic, metrics-driven fundraising program for the Heart Institute.
- Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors; identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward philanthropic investments at the major and principal gift level.
- Collaborate with physician leadership, administrators, grateful patients, and community partners to translate priorities into compelling philanthropic opportunities.
- Track progress against goals and metrics to ensure maximum impact.
- Education: Bachelor's degree required;
Master's degree preferred. - Experience: Minimum 5 years of progressive fundraising experience, including major gift solicitation.
- Certification: CFRE accreditation preferred.
- License: Valid Florida driver’s license.
- Other: Demonstrated success securing $25,000+ gifts; experience with six- and seven-figure gifts preferred. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and credibility with high-net-worth donors, physicians, and community leaders. Ability to communicate complex medical or programmatic priorities in a donor-centered way. High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality. Proficiency in donor CRM systems (Raiser's Edge or similar preferred). Ability to travel locally and regionally.
Experience fundraising in healthcare, academic medicine, or complex nonprofit environments. Familiarity with grateful patient fundraising and physician engagement models. Experience supporting a campaign or capital fundraising initiative. Knowledge of planned giving vehicles and philanthropic tax strategies.
