IT Computer Intern – Part Time

Tice – Based in Fort Myers, Florida

ResponsibilitiesUnder supervision of the IT Technical Support Manager, installs, maintains, troubleshoots and upgrades computer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment. Makes recommendations regarding hardware and software acquisitions. Performs general technical support functions, including assembly, configuration and maintenance of the electronics and computer equipment. Ensures that all donated electronics are processed in an efficient manner. Other duties may be assigned as prescribed within the scope of this job.
Performs related work as assigned.
Valid Florida License for a minimum of 4 years.
Occasional use of personal vehicle for trips (mileage reimbursement).
Required Experience- Completion of two years of college-level coursework in computer science preferred.
- Information technology or a related field and two years of general computer installation, maintenance and repair experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
- A+ Certification is a plus.
- Must remain current on technological trends in hardware, software, peripherals and networking systems.
- Computer hardware, software and peripherals such as central processing units, servers, monitors, cables, network systems, printers, plotters and modems.
- Procedures for installing, configuring, upgrading, troubleshooting and repairing applicable software, hardware and peripherals.
- Techniques for explaining technical concepts and procedures to non-technical users.
- Windows Server environment; troubleshooting and solving hardware and software problems.
- Working knowledge of PC and computer components; working knowledge of operating systems and other relevant software programs.
- Effective communication.
- Stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions.
- Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
- Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally exposed to extreme atmospheric conditions (temperature, noise, fumes, dust, etc).

Salary: $17.00 per hour
