Shift: Shift 1: 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM (variable hour options)
Pay Range: $21.54 – $25.31 per hour
Sign‑On Bonus: Up to $5,000; relocation bonus up to $5,000 if located >50 miles away.
SummaryThe Medical Assistant is responsible for providing an excellent customer experience in a team based environment while assisting in all aspects of the medical practice under the direct supervision and responsibility of a physician or physician assistant. This position is responsible for patient safety, performing phlebotomy, point of care testing, assisting in minor procedures, processing lab specimens, safe operation of medical equipment, providing patient instructions, handling and administering medications according to regulatory standards and organizational policy and procedure under the direct supervision of a physician or physician assistant.
This position is responsible for the collection, communication and documentation of accurate patient information and maintaining medical records according to regulatory standards and organizational policies and procedures. Other responsibilities include coordinating requests for information and prescriptions, maintaining and preparing patient care areas to ensure efficient, effective and safe patient care delivery. Late hours, holidays and weekends may be required. Other duties as assigned by the Manager/Supervisor of the department.
- Perform phlebotomy and point‑of‑care testing
- Assist in minor procedures and process lab specimens
- Operate medical equipment safely
- Provide patient instructions and administer medications per policy
- Collect, communicate, and document accurate patient data
- Maintain medical records in compliance with regulations
- Coordinate requests for information and prescriptions
- Prepare and maintain patient care areas
- Handle late hours, holidays, and weekends as required
- Perform other duties assigned by the Manager/Supervisor
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Completion of a medical assisting program or post‑secondary medical assisting program accredited to prepare the medical assistant to take national CMA, CCMA, or RMA certifications preferred.
- Experience: Medical assistant experience preferred but not required for graduates within 2 years of completing an accredited program. 1 year of medical assistant experience in a physician’s office or hospital outpatient department may be accepted in lieu of a degree/diploma.
- License: Not required.
- Certifications: CMA, CCMA, or RMA preferred. BLS required (must be obtained within first 90 days of hire).
- Other: Medical terminology, communication skills and basic computer knowledge required. Early/late hours and/or weekends may be required.
