Pathologist Assistant

Overview

As a Pathology assistant you will work closely with supervising pathologists to perform tissue transfer and large specimen grossing with appropriate tissue sampling and gross description composition.

• Gross pathology prosection and description with submission of appropriate tissue for thorough pathology evaluation
• Assist with preparation of frozen section slides
• Prosect and assist in report generation of rare fetal and adult autopsies
• Assist in appropriate quality control and quality assurance measures
• Assist pathologists in preparing for tumor board or other presentations

• Master’s Degree in Pathologist Assistant (PA) from an accredited college or university, graduation from a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program preferred, Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in one of the chemical, physical, or biological sciences
• Pathologist assistant certification under ASCP
• Five years of laboratory experience as pathology assistant
• (Exceptions to these requirements are in respect to individuals qualifying prior to April 1, 1972 (see NYCRR section 58-1.5(5).))
• Experienced PA with ASCP PA certification- required
• Florida does not require a state PA license
• Heavy grossing with complex oncology resections (GYN/GU, GI, head & neck, breast, Whipple)
• Not suitable for a PA with only limited or GYN-only experience

Salary: $150-170K/yr with $4,500 annual bonus
