Hiring salary range: $2,314.59 biweekly/$60,179.34 /annually

The work you will do:

Materials specialist-earthwork/district one/fort myers branch office

This position will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and performance of earthwork materials used in florida's transportation infrastructure. This position is responsible for overseeing and monitoring earthwork activities by evaluating sampling procedures, testing methodologies, and equipment used by testing firms. Key responsibilities include assessing the qualifications and performance of testing personnel, verifying compliance with fdot standards, and reviewing test results for accuracy and consistency.

The specialist also provides technical expertise to address earthwork-related construction challenges and supports the consistent application of specifications and quality control measures across fdot projects.

Your specific responsibilities:

Inspect materials in the field as requested or required during construction, maintenance or design. Determine material compliance with department contract and procedural documents. Inspect ongoing activities and documentation of materials related testing and inspection. Provide feedback and technical assistance to field personnel as appropriate. Document and report findings.

Perform independent assurance evaluations in the field as described in department procedures and the federal aid policy guide. Perform these evaluations in an objective and professional manner. Document and report findings.

Perform field and/or laboratory testing in accordance with the applicable florida sampling and testing methods (fstm), american association of state highway and transportation officials (aashto) or american society for testing and materials (astm) test method. Report results precisely in the appropriate database. Keep all testing equipment calibrated and in good working order.

Review quality control plans, construction plans, specifications, procedures and any other documents necessary to execute the department's mission. Provide clear comments as requested in time to be useful to the customer.

Evaluate project/process to determine current performance status. Make/recommend improvements to optimize delivery or improve results. Notify stakeholders of any changes to the project/process. Ensure project/process is consistent, predictable and repeatable.

Analyze materials data for contract and procedural compliance. Take timely action to report any errors in the data.

Provide materials related technical support to customers as requested. Provide support in time to meet the customers' needs.
