Role DescriptionThis is a full-time on-site role for a Chief Estimator specializing in commercial electrical projects. The position is based in Fort Myers, FL. The Chief Estimator will be responsible for managing the estimating team, preparing cost estimates, evaluating project specifications, determining materials and labor, and ensuring the accuracy of project bids. You will assess risks, and contribute to maintaining profitability while meeting client needs.
Collaboration with project managers, clients, and team members is essential for this role.
- Lead and oversee the estimating department, ensuring competitive and profitable bids.
- Develop accurate cost estimates for large commercial and industrial electrical projects.
- Review project plans, specifications, and contracts to determine scope and risks.
- Manage preconstruction efforts, working closely with project management and field teams.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and clients.
- Implement and refine estimating processes, tools, and best practices.
- Mentor and develop junior estimators to strengthen our team.
- 10+ years of electrical estimating experience, with a strong background in large-scale projects.
- Deep knowledge of electrical systems, construction methods, and industry pricing.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage teams and collaborate cross-functionally.
- Strong proficiency in estimating software and Excel.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
