the work you will dothis position will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and performance of earthwork materials used in florida’s transportation infrastructure. This position is responsible for overseeing and monitoring earthwork activities by evaluating sampling procedures, testing methodologies, and equipment used by testing firms. Key responsibilities include assessing the qualifications and performance of testing personnel, verifying compliance with fdot standards, and reviewing test results for accuracy and consistency.
The specialist also provides technical expertise to address earthwork-related construction challenges and supports the consistent application of specifications and quality control measures across fdot projects.

your specific responsibilities- inspect materials in the field as requested or required during construction, maintenance or design. Determine material compliance with department contract and procedural documents. Inspect ongoing activities and documentation of materials related testing and inspection. Provide feedback and technical assistance to field personnel as appropriate. Document and report findings.
- perform independent assurance evaluations in the field as described in department procedures and the federal aid policy guide. Perform these evaluations in an objective and professional manner. Document and report findings.
- perform field and/or laboratory testing in accordance with the applicable florida sampling and testing methods (fstm), american association of state highway and transportation officials (aashto) or american society for testing and materials (astm) test method. Report results precisely in the appropriate database. Keep all testing equipment calibrated and in good working order.
