As a Librarian, Reference.
Variable responsibilities include:
- Provide outstanding customer service to patrons of all ages using library resources, technology, reference, and readers’ advisory.
- Maintain and promote the adult collection through selection, weeding, and visually engaging displays.
- Plan, present, and evaluate programs and activities for adults at the library and at outreach locations.
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource, explaining library policies and procedures with professionalism and tact.
- Support branch operations, including Hinweise of volunteers and paraprofessional staff, and occasionally overseeing the branch in the absence of the manager.
- Participate in branch‑specific and system‑wide committees and professional development to诊 remain current with emerging library trends and technology.
- Build strong relationships with co‑workers and the community, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment.
To succeed in this role, you’ll need strong communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively with a team, and a commitment to providing inclusive service to a diverse community. You should be comfortable engaging with patrons of all ages, including children and teens, and those who speak languages other than English. Initiative, creativity,语言聆听, and flexibility are key—along with a willingness to grow and learn.
Spanish language skills are a plus.
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent:
- Master’s Degree in Library or Information Science, or a closely related field, from an accredited graduate library program; OR
- Bachelor’s Degree with current enrollment in an accredited graduate library program and a projected graduation date within six (6) months of hire.
- One year of relevant library experience.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License.
Supplemental Information:
Work Schedule – Full‑time, 80 hours bi‑weekly, with variable hours that may include evenings, Saturdays, and some Sundays. Location Flexibility – Employees may be reassigned temporarily or permanently to other locations in the system based on operational needs. Team Culture – Dedicated team valuing collaboration, continuous learning, and outstanding service to both the public and one another. Emergency Response/Recovery Activities – All County employees are required to work before, during, or after an emergency as needed.
