Key Responsibilities- Shovel, rake, and compact materials at road construction projects.
- Stand for long periods performing manual labor near hot asphalt in hot weather.
- Walk alongside the paver to shovel and rake areas of asphalt that require leveling.
- Perform duties near traveled roadways and live traffic lanes.
- Load, unload, and properly clean tools and equipment.
- Assist other team members in different areas of the road project.
- Move and deliver tools, equipment and materials throughout the job site.
- Follow directions of the foreman for daily tasks and expectations.
- Maintain acceptable attendance in a flexible work schedule.
- Properly follow and promote all company policies and OSHA regulations for safe working procedures.
- Adhere to safety requirements and procedures at all times.
- Be available to travel and work at multiple construction sites within your geographic region.
- May perform other duties including operating equipment.
- Possess a professional attitude while interacting with peers, contractors and the general public.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and 20 lbs. regularly.
- Work with a shovel or rake for periods of time throughout the day; handling weights from 10 lbs. to 30 lbs. on a regular basis; push and pull an asphalt rake.
- Perform motions: stretching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, walking, standing, reaching and squatting.
- Climb onto and off of equipment on a regular basis; use hand and footholds safely.
- Operate directional, speed, and operational controls on equipment, e.g., steering wheel.
- Perform other activities as needed such as flagging traffic, operating a vibratory tamp, or using hand tools.
