Spring Training Bat Attendant – Boston Red Sox
Position OverviewThe Spring Training Bat Attendant will work closely with the Red Sox Clubhouse staff and organize the dugout, bullpen, and field for Spring Training games. The role is located on-site at Jet Blue Park in Fort Myers, Florida. Candidates must be within commuting distance. Housing is not provided. This temporary assignment runs from Spring Training’s start to end.
Responsibilities- Arrive 1 hour prior to scheduled game times (typically 12:00pm and/or 5:00pm).
- Assist with the setup of the home bench, bullpen, and field for scheduled games.
- Assist with various in-game duties, including but not limited to:
- Retrieving bats and balls to remove them from the field of play.
- Periodically bringing game balls to the home plate umpire.
- Other tasks assigned by the Clubhouse staff.
- Maintain and organize equipment on the bench.
- Post-game, assist with the breakdown of the home bench and bullpen.
- Other duties as assigned by the Clubhouse staff before, during, and after Spring Training games at Jet Blue Park.
- Ability to connect with and meet the needs of people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
- Diligence, dedication, and a positive attitude.
- Take extra care to safeguard sensitive information and respect privacy.
- High degree of emotional intelligence with the ability to build and maintain healthy relationships.
- Must be able to work all Spring Training games scheduled to take place from approximately February 1st through March 30th.
- Must be able to regularly lift items weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Willing and able to work outside for the duration of Spring Training games; games are played despite excessive heat, cold, and/or rain.
- Precise attention to detail required.
- Must be 18 years of age or older to apply.
