Description
The Occupational Therapist assesses the functional needs of the patients and sets appropriate goals for that patient; provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as needed; reassesses patient's functional needs and adjusts care plan as indicated to ensure optimal patient outcome; documents evaluations and treatment goals and plans; provides correct information on Medicare, Medi-Cal and all other forms;
regularly updates documentation and maintains all required prescriptions and signatures; documents the course of patient care including progress made and continuing need for treatment; provides correct statistics and billing information on all OT patients; provides patient and family education on tasks and resources that will assist with continued functional independence; attends hospital and community meetings as appropriate; serves on various committees, and performs other duties as assigned.

- Degree / Licensure / Certification / Registration
:
Must be a graduate of a bachelor s degree or master’s degree program approved by the CAHEA of the AMA in collaboration with the AOTA. Requires a current and valid Arizona license/certification as an Occupational Therapist. Must have valid BLS certification. Requires continuing education and training to maintain Arizona licensure. - Experience Required
: 1 year previous OT exp. preferred - Special Skills & Qualifications
: - Must possess the ability to delegate tasks to subordinate team members and oversee their performance. Must have strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Effective human relations skills are required for interfacing with team members, all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families and other contacts. Must possess the ability to effectively function in a stressful environment. Must possess the ability to remain on feet for extended periods of time and lift heavy objects;
assist patients to and from bed/wheelchair; and to perform the essential duties of the position. Must possess the ability to use the following equipment:
Telephone / Overhead Paging System / Fax Machine / Calculator / Computer / Wheelchair / Hospital Beds. Must be able to work any scheduled shifts. Must be willing to work periodic overtime and be prepared to take call as requested. Completed Competency Based Skills Checklists for unit(s) assigned.
