Description

Position:
Occupational Therapist

Responsibilities
  • Assess the functional needs of patients and set appropriate goals for each patient.
  • Provide direct patient care, evaluate outcomes, and consult with other specialists as needed.
  • Reassess patients’ functional needs and adjust the care plan to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Document evaluations, treatment goals and plans; provide correct information on Medicare, Medi-Cal and all other forms; regularly update documentation and obtain required prescriptions and signatures.
  • Document the course of patient care including progress and continuing need for treatment; provide accurate statistics and billing information for OT patients.
  • Provide patient and family education on tasks and resources that support continued functional independence.
  • Attend hospital and community meetings as appropriate; serve on committees and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Degree / Licensure / Certification / Registration
    :
    Must be a graduate of a bachelor’s or master’s degree program approved by CAHEA of the AMA in collaboration with the AOTA. Requires a current and valid Arizona license/certification as an Occupational Therapist. Must have valid BLS certification. Requires continuing education and training to maintain Arizona licensure.
  • Experience Required
    : 1 year previous OT experience preferred.
  • Special Skills & Qualifications
    :
  • Must possess the ability to delegate tasks to subordinate team members and oversee their performance; strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective human relations skills are required for interfacing with team members, all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families and other contacts.
  • Ability to function effectively in a stressful environment; ability to remain on feet for extended periods and to lift heavy objects; assist patients to and from bed/wheelchair; perform essential duties of the position.
  • Ability to use equipment: telephone, overhead paging system, fax machine, calculator, computer, wheelchair, hospital beds.
  • Must be able to work any scheduled shifts, be willing to work periodic overtime, and be prepared to take call as requested.
  • Completed competency-based skills checklists for assigned units.
