Overview
Job Goal:
To assist in providing safe transportation of students to and from designated locations.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to address the needs of students.
- Must have physical dexterity, coordination, mobility, visual acuity and emotional health to perform the essential functions of the position including the ability to lift and restrain students of varying age levels and sizes. Need the ability to bend and kneel to secure wheelchairs.
- Successfully pass pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
- Ability to assist the public with tact and enthusiasm.
- A genuine passion for working with children.
- Ability to pass CPR and Diastat administration courses if required.
Director of Transportation
Performance Responsibilities- To assist driver in operation of lifts for wheelchairs and assisting disabled students.
- To maintain positive student conduct on the bus.
- To secure special equipment that may accompany the student.
- To alert to any conditions in the loading and unloading area of concern.
- To communicate in an appropriate fashion with students, parents, and employees.
- To assist regular driver in cleaning the bus.
- To maintain discipline of students being transported.
- To establish a safe, supportive, positive and productive environment.
- To exhibit positive image as a loyal representative of the school district.
- To maintain a neat and clean professional appearance.
- To complete all paper work required by the school district.
- To attend all in-service days required by the school district.
- To perform other duties as required.
In addition to successfully passing the South Carolina Department of Education Physical Performance test, drivers are also expected to be able to assist, move, push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Be physically able to withstand prolonged periods of sitting, standing, bending, squatting, walking, reaching, and repetitive movements.
Terms of EmploymentBD2 FMSD Salary Schedule, 180 contract days per year. Non-exempt. Salary placement based upon experience and education based on district formula.
EvaluationPerformance on this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the board’s policy on evaluation on non-certified personnel.
