- Performs phlebotomy and properly processes specimens for in‑house and reference laboratory testing, preserving and packaging specimens according to applicable guidelines for safe transport.
- Maintains cleanliness of equipment and work area and keeps an adequate supply inventory.
- Performs laboratory analysis and interprets results across multiple disciplines; verifies critical lab results by repeat analysis or specimen recollection when appropriate.
- Accurately demonstrates skills with pipetting and diluting specimens.
- Identifies inefficiencies and inaccuracies, responds appropriately, and makes recommendations for resolution; actively participates in departmental and interdepartmental process improvement activities.
- Performs related duties as required.
Position:
Medical Lab Scientist
Work Hours:
Friday – Sunday, 5 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
$20,000.00 Sign-on Bonus (paid over 2 years)
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from an approved college or university and/or graduate of an accredited school of medical technology, or equivalent such as:
- Military training as defined by 42 CFR 493.1489
- Qualified at the Medical Technologist level by achieving a satisfactory grade on an HHS examination before 2/28/92 (42 CFR 493.1491)
- Licensure/Certification:
- Registered or registry eligible in accordance with an approved certifying agency (ASCP, NCA, AMT or CSMLS) within 12 months of hire.
- Equivalency evaluation by ECE, NACES or AICE for non‑US trained personnel must be completed within 30 days of hire.
- Experience:
6 months to 1 year of medical laboratory technologist/clinical laboratory scientist experience in an acute care facility.
