Position: IT Specialist (Network) with Security Clearance
Duties
* Administers, installs, and maintains local area networks (LANs) for various emergency services directorates, ensuring economical interfacing of equipment.
* Provides technical assistance and guidance on the operation, maintenance, and capabilities of automated systems and network infrastructure to users.
* Manages automation configurations, performs system management functions on PC/LAN multi-user systems, and troubleshoots operating system problems.
* Ensures operational integrity of computer systems through backups, assists users with technology selection, and resolves hardware/software compatibility issues.
* Serves as the Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) for emergency services, ensuring compliance with Army Regulations for system security and maintenance. Requirements Conditions of employment
* Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
* This position requires the employee to be able obtain and maintain CompTIA A+ certification within 6 months of hire.
* This position may require the employee to travel temporarily from their normal duty station up to 25% of the time for work, training and/or conferences.
* This position requires extensive face-to-face contact with supervisors, employees, and clients. The employee's physical presence is required, this position is not eligible for telework.
* This position requires the employee to pass a pre-placement and medical surveillance examination in accordance with Occupational Health requirements.
* This position requires that the employee must possess a current and valid state driver's license and pass the Army Defensive Driving Course.
* This role requires employees to meet DoDM 8140.03 Cyber work role requirements (excluding Data, AI, Software Eng.), including Foundational qual within 9 mos., Resident qual within 12 mos., and 20 hrs of Continuous Professional Development annually.
* This position is designated Tier 3, Non-Critical Sensitive, Moderate Risk and requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance Level as a condition of employment.
* This position is subject to pre-employment and random drug testing as part of the Federal and Department of the Army Drug-Free Workplace Programs.
* Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights. Experience:

One year of specialized experience which includes:
Providing technical assistance on the implementation and operation of automated systems by troubleshooting and correcting operating system problems and resolving equipment and software compatibility questions;
Performing systems management functions on a personal computer/local area network (PC/LAN);
Advising users on computer requirements and limitations, tailoring software packages to specific users' needs, and instructing users on procedures for maintaining files;
Ensuring operational integrity of computer systems by installing systems and application software and performing regular backup and recovery procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined: (1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: completing work independently that rarely requires editing or review by others.
