Summary

This position is in the Professional Work Category at the Expert Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is for the DISA White House Communications Agency at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, District of Columbia. This is an Excepted Service position and does not confer eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. Provides technical expert-level counsel on operating a broad range of global enterprise information systems, technologies, and networks, and the systems and technologies.

Provides top management continuity to the long-range information systems strategy, engineering plans, and IT policies for WHCA and Presidential Information Technology Community (PITC).

Directs the study, analysis, and preparation of system engineering proposals that significantly influence the White House Military Office (WHMO) and PITC or support operations of WHCA to the Presidential support mission.

Develops, maintains, and facilitates the implementation of a sound and integrated IT architecture for the Agency, providing senior-level oversight of all applicable Information Systems.

Provides conceptual, technical guidance and direction in conducting engineering and operational mission reviews.

• This national security position may require access to classified information and requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.

• This is a Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information position with Yankee White.
• This position is covered under DoD Manual 8140 which will be subject to future Cyber Workforce requirements.
• Travel is occasional.

Basic Requirements

• Attention to detail – experience reviewing one’s own IT-related work or data and having been responsible for reviewing the work of others to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.
• Customer service – developing and maintaining relationships with customers, anticipating and assessing current and future IT needs, and developing or identifying IT products or services tailored to meet customer needs.
• Oral communication – briefing senior‑level management and IT staff on the status of IT systems, projects, or daily operations, including communicating complex technical information to a non‑technical audience.
• Problem solving – identifying alternatives to address unique, highly complex, or sensitive IT-related issues; anticipating IT problems and evaluating potential sources of information to generate alternative solutions.

Qualifying Experience

To qualify at the GG‑15, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience may include paid or unpaid work, volunteer work, or military service considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level. For this position, qualifying experience includes:

• Broad experience with information technology, systems, and networking.
• Expertise in various types of transmission media such as networking, routing, LAN/WAN voice, data, video systems, or information assurance and protection systems.

All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.

Additionally, prior to reporting for duty the selectee must be found eligible for a DoD Top Secret security clearance with access to Special Compartmented Information (SCI) based upon a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI), and be approved for Presidential Support Duty in accordance with DoD Directive 5210.55 (Yankee White – Category II, minimum).
