Heavy Equipment Operator (Dozer D9 - D11) (Kearl)
North American Construction Group is seeking Dozer Operators to join our remote mining site team in the Fort McMurray area.
Where You’ll Be Working- Site:
Kearl - Schedule:
14 x 14, 12‑hour days (paid lunch). 14 days on, 14 off. 14 nights on, 14 off. - Accommodations:
Camp accommodation provided. - Transportation:
Flights provided to and from Edmonton or Calgary. Bus service from Fort McMurray to site (before and after rotation). - Overtime:
Currently at Kearl blended rates with no overtime.
- Up to a combined rate of pay of $55.42 per hour
- Vacation and statutory holiday pay allocated to each paycheck
- Night shift premium +$1.20 per hour
- Paid weekly

- Operate D9 to D11 Dozers and various models required to complete assigned work
- Provide shovel support at site as requested
- Read stakes and place grades as needed
- Ensure compliance with all company, client, and legislated safety policies, operating standards, and procedures
- Use adequate safety equipment, including PPE
- Review safe work plans/hazard assessments before job commencement and follow all requirements
- Complete equipment/area walk‑arounds, safety checks, and field‑level risk assessments; ensure all equipment is running properly
- Report any necessary or anticipated repairs to maintenance or supervisors immediately
- Report all incidents, near misses, or damage immediately
- Minimum 2 years experience operating D9 to D11 sized Dozers
- Minimum 1 year working with mining shovels
- Previous experience operating with muskeg/soft ground required
- Minimum one year experience in a mining atmosphere preferred
- Must be able to follow instructions to ensure safe equipment operation
- Safety‑first attitude
- Attentive and possess strong listening skills
- High school diploma, GED, and/or post‑secondary education considered an asset
- Must be proficient in English, both verbal and written
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and ability to provide a recent acceptable Driver’s Abstract
- Valid CSO Certification
- Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness or Energy Safety Canada Wildlife Awareness (including Bear Awareness) (Kearl Only)
- Be subject to Random Testing at Suncor, Suncor Fort Hills and Kearl sites
- Undergo and successfully pass the following pre‑employment testing:
- Breath Alcohol Test
- Urine Drug Test
- Fitness‑to‑Work Health Assessment
- Audiometric Testing
- Vision Screening
- Criminal Record Check
Once dispatched the following processes will occur
- Receive a call from NACG to set up all required pre‑employment testing
- Receive an email with all required new hire paperwork to be filled out
- After all results and paperwork are received, candidates will be contacted by Site Admin to schedule orientation and confirm start date and other site‑specific details.
The onboarding process can take anywhere from 3-8 business days.
