Thompson Construction Group has a current opening for a Site Maintenance Supervisor supporting operations in the Fort McMurray area. Reporting to the Fleet Maintenance Manager, this role is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment and related assets to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable site operations. The Site Maintenance Supervisor works closely with Operations and Maintenance teams to support site requirements and maximize equipment availability.
Responsibilities- Track and monitor all equipment on site, including operational status and repair requirements
- Coordinate and prioritize maintenance activities in collaboration with Operations
- Assign work based on technician skill sets and operational priorities
- Oversee workforce scheduling and daily maintenance activities
- Manage and direct on-site mechanics, welders, and service personnel
- Conduct daily toolbox meetings and communicate safety and operational priorities
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical support to maintenance teams
- Maintain regular communication with Site Operations Management regarding equipment status and repair priorities
- Liaise with the Fleet Maintenance Manager on workforce requirements and planning
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance and maintenance processes
- Ensure compliance with corporate health and safety policies and site-specific safety programs
- Assist with Job Safety Analysis (JSA) development and ensure permitting requirements are met
- Ensure training requirements are met and maintained for maintenance personnel
- Support hiring and onboarding of field mechanics, welders, and service personnel
- Maintain maintenance documentation, including apprenticeship and trade records
- Review and verify maintenance-related invoices
- Stay current on policy, warranty, and equipment-related requirements
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Minimum 10 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair within heavy civil earthworks and/or mining
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a maintenance leadership or supervisory role
- Strong technical knowledge of heavy equipment maintenance operations
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- CSO, BSO, or CSTS/OSSA certification
- Ability to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test
