Overview

Alberta Health Services is seeking a dedicated Workplace Health and Safety Business Partnership (WHSBP) Safety Advisor to play the crucial role of ensuring a safe and healthy workforce, directly contributing to the delivery of high‑quality patient care for Albertans.
ResponsibilitiesStrategic partner in managing risks and leading the development and management of WHS initiatives and programs within your portfolio. Collaborate closely with workers, leaders, departments, sites, programs, and partners to provide ongoing support. Engage key players to provide best practice recommendations, resources, and direction with the goal of preventing worker injury and illness. Perform on‑site duties, including fit testing, supporting inspections, incident investigations, and Joint Workplace Health and Safety Committees.
Transport equipment and supplies to sites within your designated area to perform these duties effectively. Assist in the development of strategies that support WHS initiatives and programs, coordinate and deliver educational tools and resources, and lead the implementation of projects and programs that protect and enhance the health, safety, and wellness of AHS staff. Engage in change management by interpreting client needs, assessing requirements, and identifying innovative solutions to multifaceted and time‑sensitive challenges.
- Degree, diploma, or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline with Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation. Candidates actively pursuing their CRSP designation are eligible if enrolled in an accredited program with a commitment to complete it within two years.
- Minimum of three (3) years of directly related occupational health and safety experience in a large, complex, or unionized environment. An equivalent combination of education, training, and health and safety experience may be considered in lieu of CRSP designation.
- Degree, diploma, or certificate with certification and registration in Occupational Hygiene or Industrial Hygiene is preferred.
- Previous experience in a healthcare environment is an asset.
