Minimum Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited post‑secondary education program for Petroleum Engineering Technology or 3rd or 4th class Power Engineering (must already have steam time)
  • A proven safety and environmental mindset
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • An aptitude to continually seek knowledge and understanding; you strive to understand the systems, processes, and hazards in and around the workplace
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
Responsibilities
  • You will be working in an operations team in the Pads and Gathering group (will not be provided steam time) which involves equipment between the well head and central processing facility in the Firebag SAGD asset
  • Perform pad operation duties for safe and efficient operations and ensure shift changes are well communicated
  • Ensure timely action and process adjustments during plant upsets that are consistent with operational objectives and target outputs
  • Perform routine operating tasks such as monitoring levels, pressures, and temperatures
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and initiate repairs or requests for repairs when required
  • Prepare equipment and systems for maintenance
Location & Other Key Details
  • You will work out of our Firebag location, which is our largest in situ operation and one of the largest in the world (and located 120 km northeast of Fort McMurray, Alberta)
  • You will work on a fly‑in, fly‑out schedule; 7 days in, 7 days off, 12‑hour rotating shift schedule
  • This position begins as early as May 2026 for a 6‑month term
  • This position is safety sensitive
  • This is a union represented position under Unifor Local 707a Firebag
