• Job location: Fort McMurray, Alberta – Horizon Oil Sands site
• Shift schedule: 4 days on, 3 days off, 10 hours/day (Monday – Thursday)
• Term lengths: 8 or 12 months
• Term starts: May or September 2026
• Safety sensitive position: Yes

Key Accountabilities:

• Assist the Upgrading and Utilities Engineering Team in activities relating to operations, maintenance or construction support
• Understand process plant operation and equipment
• Collaborate with the Project and Operations teams to ensure proper alignment with operations needs and requirements
• Review assets and data to see where we can improve the frequency of maintenance and be able to improve our uptime on equipment
• Gather field measurements & data to assist engineers
• Assist in checking designs executed by engineering contractors
• Assist in evaluation of equipment purchase specifications
• Coordinate with various disciplines and departments within Operations or Major Projects to resolve engineering issues
• Assist with creating and maintaining project deliverables such as Lessons Learned Logs, Request For Information forms, Technical Deviation Requests

What You Bring to

The Role:

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Chemical or Process Engineering or within one year of graduation
• Previous engineering experience is considered an asset
• Previous field experience an asset
• Possess a valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license or equivalent out of province license with a reasonably clean driver abstract and comfortable driving work trucks in a safe manner
