Job Purpose
The HSE Lead will be primarily responsible in assisting the branch with:
- Support, implement and lead safety programs, policies, practices and standards relative to Branch & Client needs and industry best practices with operational staff and applicable HS&E Advisors.
- Maintains the ongoing development and implementation of branch level HS&E systems
- Incident management
- Field Level Post Incident Activities
- Coordinate incident investigation processes for all incidents
- Ensuring Quality Reporting and Information handling and processing
- Coordinate initial WCB/Disability management with VP of Risk Management
- Assist in Development and Implementation of Training of branch employees
- Mentor and ensure quality control of safety inspections, audits and investigations relative to HS&E with operational staff and applicable HS&E Advisors.
- Responsible for distribution of safety alerts and best practices to all NCSG companies.
- Assists with HS&E related training material development and delivery.
- Managing relationship with Client Site Safety Representatives
- Provide HSE information to client as necessary
- Ensure project or client HSE requirements are effectively communicated at pre-bid and pre-job meetings.
- Supports the Barnhart Crane Business Development department with HSE information used for bidding, and client reporting
- Produces Company, branch, project or client safety statistics and performance summary reports as required.
- Professionally represents Barnhart Crane during customer meetings and office activities.
- Providing operational team with assistance with regards to compliance to regulatory requirements and site safety code requirements.
- Actively monitor Company and Client HSE databases and updates to address any changes to client or regulatory needs.
- Perform field inspections, conduct meaningful interactions with workforce and maintain field presence during work activities and projects. Identify Hazards early.
- Supports the Joint Worksite Committee process to ensure effective meetings and documentation.
- Assist/Liase with VP of Risk Management for Corporate HSE as needed
- NCSO, CRSP, CSP or other recognized safety designation required, or in the process of attaining.
- Training program and learning objective development experience preferred.
- Degree, diploma, or certificate in occupational safety preferred.
- Minimum 5 years experience in a Construction, Oil sands, Mining or Heavy Equipment industry
- Understanding of crane functions, capabilities and standards would be an asset
- Understanding of Transportation Compliance would be an asset.
- Ability to gain access to all oil sands sites in Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo Region.
