Overview
Step into a leadership role with a trusted cannabis retailer operating since 2015, where accountability, teamwork, and growth matter. High Plainz Strains is seeking a full-time Retail Assistant Manager to support daily operations at our licensed cannabis dispensary in Fort Lupton. This leadership role serves as Manager-on-Duty (MOD) during assigned shifts and regularly opens and closes the store as part of the leadership rotation.
The position is responsible for staff oversight, cash accountability, regulatory compliance, and delivering an exceptional customer experience.

This is a full-time position (35+ hours per week) across five shifts per week. This position is primarily scheduled for opening and closing shifts with limited mid-shift coverage. Open availability required, including weekends and holidays (Closed on Christmas Day). Store hours are 8:00am - 10:00pm.
The ideal candidate will bring diverse experience in customer service, shift management, and cash handling. Previous retail management experience is highly desirable, and familiarity with the cannabis industry is a significant advantage. We seek someone with a positive attitude who enjoys interacting with both customers and team members. Strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt quickly to a dynamic environment are essential.
Given the highly regulated nature of our industry, adherence to rules, regulations, and established SOPs is crucial. High ethical standards are mandatory, as you will be responsible for handling both product and cash daily.
Pay and Benefits
Pay - Competitive salary, starting at $19 per hour, depending on experience.

Basic Functions Of The Job
- Serve as Manager-on-Duty (MOD) during assigned shifts, including regular opening and closing responsibilities
- Supervise bud tenders and front desk staff to ensure strong customer service and sales performance
- Open and close the dispensary, including drawer counts and end-of-day cash reporting
- Perform accurate cash handling, tracking, and required documentation
- Process discounts, and pricing issues within the POS system
- Address escalated customer service issues professionally and effectively
- Ensure compliance with all MED regulations, state cannabis laws, and company SOPs
- Maintain a clean, organized, stocked, and customer-ready sales floor
- Delegate tasks and support staff performance throughout each shift
- Count, record, and distribute employee tips accurately, including front desk allocations
Ideal Skills And Experience
- Ability to work full-time with open availability, including weekends and holidays
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Colorado cannabis badge
- Proven ability to accurately handle cash, including drawer counts and documentation
- Experience working in a retail environment requiring accuracy, accountability, and adherence to procedures
- Strong communication skills with the ability to provide direction and address issues professionally
- Comfortable enforcing company policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
- Demonstrates high ethical standards, integrity, and professionalism
