- Install, perform preventative maintenance, and repair a wide variety of commercial kitchen equipment including walk‑in refrigerators, freezers, cold bars, dishwashers, conveyors, food disposers, ovens, fryers, grills, steamers, kettles, mixers, and other appliances.
- Add or remove refrigerant fluids when necessary; start system, observe operation, read gauges and instruments, and adjust mechanisms such as valves, controls, and pumps to control level of fluid, pressure, and temperature in system.
- Dismantle malfunctioning systems and test components. Replace or adjust defective or worn parts to repair systems.
- Perform regularly scheduled preventative maintenance on appliances.
- Calibrate equipment when necessary.
- Utilize hand tools, test equipment, wiring diagrams and manufacturer’s specification manuals to perform duties; examine appliances during operating cycle to detect excess vibration, overheating, fluid leaks and loose parts, and disassemble appliances and examine mechanical and electrical parts.
- Trace electrical circuits to locate shorts and grounds to adjust contact points and clean parts.
- Replace worn or defective parts, such as switches, pumps, bearings, transmissions, belts, gears, blowers, and defective wiring; repair and adjust appliance motors, reassemble appliances, adjust pulleys, and lubricate moving parts.
- Test water pressure and locate leaks.
- Prepare and maintain related reports, records, and requisitions as required.
- Assist in the inventory of equipment, tools, and parts.
- Responsible for the proper handling, maintenance, use, and accountability of all equipment, tools, and parts to which assigned.
- Adhere to all safety standards.
- Maintain professionalism in both appearance and demeanor.
- Commute effectively with courtesy and helpful attitude.
- Read, write, and comprehend applicable written and oral instructions.
- Demonstrate ability to multi‑task throughout workday, with constant interruptions.
- Journeyman or Master level HVACR required; 5 years related experience and/or training in maintenance and repair of commercial kitchen equipment, including refrigeration equipment.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time.
- Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking; standing or sitting for several hours; climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs.
- Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods.
- Valid State Driver’s license required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance company.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances; background checks will be conducted.
- Access to this federal military installation requires a REAL –compliant driver’s license or an acceptable alternative (U.S. passport or military ).
