Smart State Inc. is growing! We’re looking for a hands‑on System Administrator to join our Fort Lee, NJ office. If you’re passionate about Apple hardware, networking, and IT operations and enjoy solving complex technical challenges in a fast‑moving environment—this is the role for you.
As a System Administrator, you’ll be responsible for the smooth operation of all internal IT infrastructure at our New Jersey headquarters. From managing workstation setups and network performance to supporting in‑office security systems, you’ll ensure every employee has the tools they need to do their best work. This is a high‑impact, service‑oriented role supporting both local and remote teams.
What You’ll Do- Manage and maintain macOS environments, workstation provisioning, and software configurations.
- Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support through Jira Service Desk and Slack, resolving a wide range of technical issues efficiently.
- Administer office network environments including LAN/Wi‑Fi (Palo Alto), VPNs, and IT asset life cycles.
- Oversee setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting for AV equipment, access control, and CCTV systems.
- Ensure every new hire is “Day 1 ready” by setting up hardware, credentials, and system access.
- Proactively monitor system performance, network health, and capacity planning.
- Contribute to IT documentation and process improvement initiatives across the organization.
- 3+ years of professional experience in macOS system administration and IT operations.
- Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals, VPNs, and hardware troubleshooting.
- Proficiency with tools like Jira Service Desk, Confluence, and Jira Assets.
- Experience with security, asset management, and user lifecycle administration.
- A proactive problem‑solver who thrives in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with a customer‑first attitude.
- Hands‑on experience with Jamf (MDM) for Mac device management.
- Knowledge of scripting (Bash or Python) for automation
