Personal Financial Counselor, PFC - Fort Lee, VA

Overview

Job Description – This position provides personal financial services at assigned military installations. It involves delivering personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families, including education, counseling, briefings, and referrals as needed. The role works with installation leadership and POCs to ensure the program meets installation needs.

• Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families.
• Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences.
• Develop and make available informational financial materials to service members and families.
• Coordinate, publicize, and deliver a variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops across the military lifecycle (e.g., arrival at first duty station, pre- and post-deployment).
• Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars.
• Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic means (web-based, secure online chat, video-based communications) as authorized.
• Manage duty-to-warn situations according to DoD protocol.
• Communicate with leadership and participate in regular individual and group supervision to share trends and issues.
• Participate in regular in-services/training, quality improvement committees or other contract activities as assigned.
• Perform all other duties as assigned and as aligned with the job's intent.

• Bachelor's degree required. May consider an associate degree with 4 years of experience or a high school diploma with 6 years of experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
• 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and fluent in English; bilingual in English and Spanish if required by contract.
• Ability to obtain a favorable Tier 2 background investigation.
• Ability to pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
• One of the following certifications:
  Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).

• Education:
  
  High School/GED;
  Combination of Education and Work Experience may be considered;
  Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Licenses/Certifications:
  
  AFC, CFP, or ChFC as noted above; DL and in-state license where applicable.

• Salary Range: $58,440 – $93,500 base (note: location-based adjustments may apply).
• This position may be eligible for short-term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package (health, life, and other benefits).
