Job Title: Property Accountant / Bookkeeper
Location: Fort Lee, NJ (5 Days Onsite)
OverviewA growing real estate investment and management firm, is seeking a Property Accountant / Bookkeeper to oversee day-to-day accounting operations across its real estate portfolio. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing property-level accounting, and supporting financial reporting for multiple entities and properties.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain general ledger and financial records for multiple real estate entities and properties
- Record and reconcile rent collections, operating expenses, and vendor payments
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including tenant ledgers and vendor invoices
- Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations
- Prepare property-level financial statements and reporting for management
- Assist with budgets, expense tracking, and variance analysis
- Coordinate with property managers to ensure accurate rent rolls and expense reporting
- Maintain organized financial documentation and support year-end reporting and external accountants
- 5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably within real estate or property management
- Strong knowledge of general accounting principles
- Experience with accounting or property management systems (Quick Books, App Folio, Yardi, Rent Manager) preferred
- Proficiency in Excel and financial reporting
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
