Maintenance Technician / Mechanic

Responsibilities:
- Manage on-site machining projects from start to finish, ensuring timely and high‑quality execution.
- Perform workshop tasks such as overhauls, reconditioning, modifications, cleaning, and machining of reciprocating engine components.
- Collaborate with the workshop team to meet goals and customer deadlines, including occasional overtime.
- Maintain and track tool inventory, ensuring proper calibration and readiness of machining and measuring equipment.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on plant equipment and complete training for heavy lifting tools (forklift, gantry cranes, turning equipment).
- Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, including progress reports, inspection records, timesheets, and expense reports.
- Assist in preparing detailed project completion reports according to Wärtsilä standards.
- Adapt to ad‑hoc duties as required, ensuring flexibility and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure all on-site activities comply with Wärtsilä’s Health and Safety standards (ISO 45001:2018) and that all work meets ISO 9001:2015 quality standards.
Qualifications – To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:
- A safety-first mindset and commitment to quality.
- High school diploma or technical certification in machining or mechanical engineering.
- 2–3 years of experience in on-site machining or similar roles, including line-boring, laser/optical alignment, tool calibration, and preferably in-situ crankshaft machining and portable grinding services.
- Proven ability to manage machining projects and lead teams effectively.
- Proficiency in machining tools, software, and mechanical measuring equipment, with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational and time management skills.
- A proactive attitude and ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written);
Spanish is a plus.
